I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone for the ongoing support given to the Chiba Bank. We are also most appreciative of the warm and generous support received from across the world to the stricken area following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March of this year.
Although the disaster affected our "Wider Chiba" business basis in a number of ways, fortunately we are already beginning to see signs of recovery, even in areas which were damaged by the tsunami. As a financial institution with its roots in the community, we are putting all our efforts into assisting with the revival of the region's economy.
Against this background, we have just embarked on our new medium term management plan, "Frontier 70"; this will coincide with the 70th anniversary of our bank which will take place in March 2013. The word "Frontier" in the title embraces the meaning that we will step into new areas beyond our existing boundaries.
Several major projects are planned in "Wider Chiba" and the region continues to have high growth potential. As well as giving our strong support to the growth of the region's economy through the provision of community-based finance, we shall further strengthen our profitability and establish robust foundations for our business and management, capable of withstanding changes in the management environment, such as the intensifying competition between financial institutions.
We, all the directors and employees of the Chiba Bank group, shall work together as one in seeking to meet our customers' expectations and shall make every effort to be worthy of their trust. We look forward to receiving your further support and patronage.
April 2011
Hidetoshi Sakuma
President
